Our Story

  1. 2011 — Technology Seeded at UT Dallas

    IvyBee’s origins trace back to 2011, when UT Dallas researchers began using Minecraft to teach polymer chemistry — a spark that became Polycraft World.

  2. 2014 — Polycraft World Launches

    Polycraft World is released, transforming Minecraft into a STEM education platform where players learn materials science hands-on.

  3. 2015 — “Polycrafter of the Week” Scholarships

    Polycraft World launches a scholarship initiative awarding $50K to students for in-game STEM achievements, turning gameplay success into real academic opportunities.

  4. 2016 — Published in Nature Chemistry

    Polycraft World is featured in Nature Chemistry, highlighting its groundbreaking approach to teaching complex science through play.

  5. 2019 — DARPA SAIL-ON Award

    DARPA selects Polycraft World for its SAIL-ON program to explore how AI agents adapt to novelty in simulated worlds.

  6. 2021 — Polycraft + BEST Robotics Challenge

    Polycraft World teams up with BEST Robotics for a 3D-printing STEM competition bridging virtual materials engineering with real-world robotics.

  7. March 2025 — Overqualified!™ Debuts at SXSW

    The studio unveils Overqualified! mini-games at SXSW, featuring a digital twin of the UT Dallas campus and marking its entry into commercial edtech.

  8. September 2025 — Experiential Medical Reasoning (EMR) Course

    Building on its game-based learning engine, the team partners with the University of Texas at Dallas to release the Experiential Medical Reasoning (EMR) course — a first-of-its-kind MCAT prep experience inside Minecraft. concepts.

  9. October 2025 — Rebrand to IvyBee™

    To reflect its expanded mission beyond games, Pedegree Studios rebrands as IvyBee, uniting its educational and workforce learning products under a single creative ecosystem. The rebrand marks a new chapter focused on scalable, personalized learning across education and industry.
